Insanity Defense and Post-Trial Disposition

Description

The Model Insanity Defense and Post-Trial Disposition Act provides a "cognitive test" for determining whether a criminal defendant lacks criminal responsibility. The Act provides procedures for obtaining expert opinoin on the defendant's mental condition, and for disposition of anyone found not criminally responsible into appropriate treatment for dangerous mental illness.
