New Website

Welcome to the new ULC website!  This page will describe the features available and what can be accomplished in those specific areas.  The new design improves usability of the site in comparison to the old website.  The responsive design accounts for users on mobile devices and the interface allows for quick updates from the Chicago staff in order to keep content fresh.

The website will be actively maintained and updated as new features become available. The ULC is dedicated to staying up to date with current technologies and adding features to improve business processes. Check back regularly as content and functionality will be updated.

The home page of the site contains snapshots of all the key components of the website to provide quick accessibility.

Featured Act
A snapshot of one of our current acts.  The act will change regularly and multiple will be featured throughout the year.  

Upcoming Events
The next three upcoming events or meetings will be listed here for easy reference and registration.  Click the blue "Register" button next to the specific act to navigate directly to the registration page for that event.

The latest three new stories released by the ULC.  Click on the article title to read the entire article or click on "More" to see a listing of all the news articles on the site.

Spotlight ULC
Click on "ULC's Achievements" to navigate to a page dedicated to showcasing ULC success stories and achievements throughout the years.  You will also find some notable commissioners and unusual acts from the past.

The ULC Blog
ULC President Anita Ramasastry will be making blog posts relating to ULC work in this area.  Click "Read Blog" to view all of the posts.

The searching capabilities of our content have been greatly improved.  This website has 'full text searching' which allows for searching of any and all content on the website including content within documents uploaded to the website.  Search results can be refined based on filters predetermined by categories and tags within the site.

To perform a search, use the Search link at the top of the site or the Search bar in the main navigation.  Type in the word or phrase desired and click "Search".  Within seconds a vast array of indexed results will appear with brief descriptions and links to find the result.


Once results are returned, narrow down results by clicking on subcategories to the left (Categories, Community, Formal Tags, Date Created).  Doing so will focus the search results to assist in locating the desired item.

The Acts navigation tab contains all the information related to ULC acts.  Click the "Acts" tab to receive a drop down list of sub navigation items.

This is a full listing of all acts that are current and ready for enactment.  Click on the act title to access enactment maps, legislative tracking, and other details regarding a specific act.

In Drafting
This link will navigate to the list of acts that are currently in drafting status.  These are also known as drafting committees.

In Study
This link will navigate to the list of acts that are currently in study status.  These are also known as study committees.

Projects contain all the active work with committees.  Click the "Projects" tab to receive a drop down list of sub navigation items.

Overview
The projects overview page contains information related to committees and their work process.  A flowchart is available describing the process on how an idea becomes a law.

This page lists the different types of committees used by the ULC with definitions of what they do.  Click on the committee type to view a listing of specific committees in the given category.

New Project Criteria

The text on this page describes how proposals are vetted and the process behind selected new projects.

The Meetings and Events page is home to all information related to registration, meeting details, and other resources commonly used by our members.

Annual Meeting
This is the main information page for the upcoming Annual Meeting.  Content on this page will be updated regularly.  This page will include registration information, agendas, links to hotels, links to meeting resources, and more.  The Annual Meeting registration link will also be made available on this page when registration opens.

Committee Meetings
This is the main informational page for all ULC committee meetings.  Resources include the calendar, reimbursement form, request form for calls or webinars, and more.  This page will also be updated regularly as more items are made available electronically.

Meeting Calendar
The meeting calendar is a full listing of meetings coming up for the ULC.  Each listing will have a dedicated "Register" button when the registration is open for each meeting.  Event registration can occur after a successful login to the ULC portal.

Meeting Registration
This link will navigate to the main ULC shopping cart with a full list of events and meetings available for registration.  A login is required to reach the shopping cart.

Reimbursement Form
This link will open a PDF document used for commissioner reimbursement.

Request to Schedule Webinar/Conference Call
This link will open a form used to request that ULC staff send out polling information for or schedule a conference call/webinar for a committee.  Once the form submission is received by ULC staff it will be processed in a couple business days.

This is a form used for those interested in following a committee.  All form submissions are received by the ULC staff and reviewed.  Please allow several business days for approval and completion of all requests.

The new website will meet compliance guidelines set forth by WCAG 2.0 Level AA Success Criteria.  The ULC has partnered with AudioEye to provide software to make the content of the website accessible for users in need of Assistive Technology.  The AudioEye software is available by clicking on the Accessibility icon visible from every page.
